Operator Life
A Day in the Life
Eight to ten hours a week, three months a block. Here is what that actually looks like when you are in it.
You get a task, not a lecture
Each week opens with a workplace brief: something the business needs done. The knowledge you need is taught because that task requires it, not because it is next in a syllabus.
You work in the real software
Not screenshots or demonstrations. You log in and do the work in the same systems a South African business uses, with realistic data and realistic mess.
Roughly three active days a week
Most learners spend eight to ten hours a week on the block. That usually falls across two or three focused sessions, plus the optional Saturday Skills Lab if you want extra support.
Campus, online, or both
Attend at Katlehong, work through Digital Campus from home, or mix the two week to week. The tasks, feedback and deadlines are the same either way.
Every task leaves something behind
You finish each task with an artifact: a document, an export, a report, a record. Those go into your portfolio as you go, so nothing has to be reconstructed at the end.
Feedback, then another go
Work is judged against a workplace standard, not against other learners. Not Yet Competent means you revise and resubmit. That is a normal part of the block, not a failure.
Guidance drops as you grow
Days 1 to 30 you are supported closely. Days 31 to 60 you carry more yourself. By days 61 to 90 you are handling exceptions and escalations on your own, then the capstone.
